Hi Everyone , Only new to the site but have been riding for 30 odd years . I've owned a few CB900f's in my time and have one now (81 model ) in the stable . I have been offered a 900 F2 red and white coke can model for the right price but how do i know if it is a geniune article or a mock up with the fairing etc just bolted on . I'm hoping someone out there knows . Certain frame numbers ? Kind Regards Fletch . ( Australia )

Welcome to the site, Fletch.
Can't help you with VIN or Aussie models but there are plenty of members from your country that will be along.

I think the frame number will start with 44000 rather than something in the 20,000's - that is from my shabby memory though. You should be able to find a list of applicable vin numbers somewhere.

I am restoring a CB900f2c with a red and white fairing. It is a original Fairing bike and has had one owner from new. My VIN number starts with SC09 40000000 as per THX 113.

I would look for marks around the fork tubes where the blinkers would mount on a non fairing bike. On a bike fitted with fairing from the factory the blinkers are mounted on the fairing.
The frame should be painted red. It is hard to find differences between fairing and non fairing because the fairing can be an aftermarket add on to the bike.

I hope this helps

Alan

Hi Alan , Thanks for the reply . That helps a lot . The bike is a red frame and the frame number starts SC09 . It;s all there and runs but wants a tidy up . Cheers and Kind regards , Fletch .
