Hello Everybody,
FNG from Miami. Purchased my 83 1100 three months ago, 21k miles, one owner. The bike is all I remember them to be from back in the day, so I'm happy with it.
I'm in the process to bring it to it's original luster, due to the PO changing the color of the bike.
I didn't encounter a problem sourcing the Pearl Shell White, it's still a current Honda color so the code NH-121P is good to go.
Now the story is different with the blue (I know, I know, it's the slow one), the code PB-126C-A is so old that none of the sites I visited listed it.
Here comes the dumb question (I swear I used the search function before asking):
Does anybody have a color code that comes close to that of the original blue. I'm not concerned with perfection because I'm painting the whole bike so I don't have to match exactly the original Kapiolani Blue.
Thanks in advance to everybody.

Sorry, don't have the code, but you're incorrect, the Blue one is the fast one. |

I beg to differ. The coefficient of drag is lower for the Maui Red color, thus making it the faster of the two bikes. |

Gaucho, First off, welcome.
Nice to see an FNG that intro's himself and asks politely for things.
As for your question, not sure on finding the color from the Honda codes, but back in the late '80's VW had a 16v-valve GTI Golf that had a deep blue fine metallic color called "Blue Mica".
The color code was LE5N
It is very close in my IMO, (slightly 'brighter') and likely to be easier to source thru a quality auto body shop.
Let us know how your search goes...

Welcome. By the way blue is most definitely better looking. I'm not entirely sure which is faster. The fastest is probably silver seeing as how Freddie's bike was silver and stout's OMT bike as well. Actually they both had blue on them too. Ergo blue must also be fastest. |

Hello Gaucho:
Welcome to the site. Did you see this thread under the Technical Help Section:
http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=65024
I know they are talking about the Red color combo, but go down to about the 9th poster and read what CBX-tras has to say. He first talks about how to do red, then explains what he would do to paint a blue bike.
You probably would like to know where to get the decals too. Only one I would go to is CBDecals:
http://www.cbdecals.afegraphics.com/index.php?adminshopping=&cat_id=15&catname='cb1100f'
Make sure to order BLUE and for the USofA model - they also do Canada, Europe and others.
Hope this helps. |

blue is not only better looking, I've had several of both, but i can assure you that the blue bikes are mush faster due to HP gain with the blue paint. Welcome aboard and I certainly hope you have a good sense of humor cuz there are a few guys around here that are very loose with the BS!! Most of them ride red bike by the way so be careful of them. |

Guys,
New to the site but the only new bike of ever bought out of many was a 1982 900F, Black, loved it. Time has gone by and I'v got back into bikes and I came across a blue 1100F in pretty good shape except for paint, all original and showing signs of ware. When I do repaint it I'm torn between the red or the blue?? That should open up a can of worms!!!
To tell the you the truth, I'm leaning to original color, if only to preseve "Nature's Balance" |

Thanks for the vote of confidence on "Red", I'll take it under advisement. As you can tell from my signature I'm a Beemer guy deep down but I have this little spot in my heart for that early inline four RAW power and sound, hence the recent purchase.
My intention is to keep it completly stock but I was able to source a perfect set of Sport Rear Sets from a long time member and have recently purchased a set of black super bike bars.
I intend to keep the stock exhaust but I will need to find another original exhaust system as my mufflers have started to rust underneath. Unless I could locate a usable Ontario Motor Tech pipe then I might have to go that route, anybody, anybody!!!
I recently replaced the chain and sprockets, front and rear brake pads and new fork seals, tightened the starter bolts and changed the oil and filter. This bike brings back many memories of my early twenties, damn that feels good.
By the way, in my research from this site I was able to source a site for the repaint when I'm ready to do so, his name is Mark and his shop is in West Virginia, seems like a very reputable shop. I've already sent a buddy of mine to him for his 1972 CB450 Scrambler restoration

Welcome Gaucho, great site aint it??. Looks like these guys got you covered on the info. Good luck on the paint & be sure to put up some pics !!!!!
BTW, red is faster & I can prove it. AND my buddy on his 2000 Black Bird will attest to it. |

Hello rheritage:
Not meaning to jack the thread, but for my money I would go with the Marving Exhaust System from Italy. It is black chrome which no one else does and comes in 4 into 2 ($478) or 4 into 1 ($500+). Take a look at this thread where they were discussed:
http://www.cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=63290&highlight=marving
The USA distributor is www.monsterparts.com Ask for Jeff - they have a listing on their website, but do not have a photo.
IMHO you need to avoid MAC. They are cheaper, but Make Another Choice.

Ok, here is where I'm right now, I gave my painter the Ok to start with the white and the stickers. At the same time I purchased a used blue plastic piece from ebay; and together with the VW paint code that was provided on a previous post we will come with a suitable replacement for the blue.
As soon as we are done and if I'm happy with the outcome, I will post pics and the number code we used for future reference.
Thank you guys again, this site is not for the faint of heart but the info is priceless and besides I've always liked contact sports.

Gaucho, be sure to post up pics of the finished result.
As for red vs blue, I can attest to the simple blue is faster credo, as mine certainly is...
It's an easy color choice, ya can't have just one of these things...

Ok,
Here is how it came out. I really like it, it has a couple of very small defects, but it's much better that the ugly color the PO used.

I used to think Grump was a nice guy, but now I'm beginning to wonder, since I own the faster red 1100F. |
