Hoping you smart guys can help a brother out here with a non-F question ... but at least it's still a Honda motorcycle. So, I'm replacing the fork seals on my ST1100, but I can't figure out the fork leg with the cartridge. Do I leave the cartridge sitting in the fork to measure oil height, or pull it up as far as I can? I know springs out and fully compressed and all that, but not sure about this piece, nor am I sure how much the cartridge will raise the oil height.

Thanks in advance ...

Sorry, meant the damper rod, not the whole cartridge. Posted in a hurry.

Measure with it lowered as the diameter and length of it will displace some oil. Also, ensure it’s fully bled of air.
