G'day fellas.
Been a while since I posted.
Most of you would have heard of the bush fires down here. Well on New Years Eve it got me!
We've lost the house, the parts shed and workshop. I was able to save 3 of my 6 bikes, sadly the 81 CB900F was lost. I had her all ready for rego but was smoking badly from #2 so had all the parts for an engine rebuild in the parts shed. Bugga.
I was able to save the 83 CB1100F (I rode through fire to get out!) and a mate drove m ute with the two BSA's aboard. Everything else is toast.
I won't be rebuilding there but will be moving (ha, wots left) to Lithgow so looking forward to building a new workshop with new tools!
Cheers for now.

Oh man, that sucks on all accounts. At least you're ok and got out safely. Homes and bikes can be replaced. I wish you a speedy rebuild at your new location.

Tom

Wow, glad you're OK, but what a kick in the ass. If you are planning to rebuild your 9, and need parts, just post up, and we'll get you going, sir.

That's terrible news. I read that and area larger than west Virginia has burned already! The satellite photos are apocalyptic.
Good luck rebuilding.

Wow, that sucks.....glad you weren’t hurt

Riding through the fire to save bikes is really going above and beyond

I have tremendous respect for your determination and bravery doing that....

Thanks heaps fellas.
At least I've got the 1100. 30 seconds later I would have lost the wife as well (waiting for smart comments lol).
89 homes were lost in my little village. We had no warning that morning but were sort of prepared with an evac the week before but most was left behind in the rush. Got a few photo albums and my old racing trophy's (still in the wifes car).
On the bright side we had the place for sale to move to Lithgow. This has saved me $7K in moving costs as it will all fit on the ute and trailer.
Cheers

G'day Norn.
Having your fair share down there in "mexico". East Gipsland is devastated.
I think the total burnt this Summer is the size of Washington state or the total of the US New England area or England and Wales combined. https://tinyurl.com/yzvkel32
The one that got me was a lightning strike 50 miles away on the 24thSeptember 2019!!! I've been told a back burn got out of control just over the hill on New Years Eve.
Anyway we had a local party on Sat night. It was our belated New Years and Aussie day combined. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.
Cheers

Been a few of the backburns get away from them this year, too much stuff on the ground and once it starts there is little that can be done to stop it. Cattle in the high country and let the brumbies breed and not shoot them might help a bit but gum trees are just like a tower of petrol waiting for a lightning strike
Can't believe your positive attitude, not sure I could handle it
