Got a blue one, all factory paint. Local shop has been working on this same bike since it was brand new. It's had a life. At one point a guy ran into something and had to replace the front forks. It now has a rebuilt title (From 20 years ago). Tires are good. It has a crack in the plastic cover of the speedometer. And the speedometer doesn't work. The shocks a very soft as are the front forks. They don't leak, just soft. It's a really neat bike and I am looking forward to riding it around.
The bike runs strong for an 83 1100f. The shop said the owner just had the entire motor rebuilt last year for $3800.00. Clutch is good. Brakes are good (for an 83).
The parts that I know I need are a new instrument cluster, and the black piece of plastic that rests in front of the speedometer. Considering buying replacement shocks, looking for recommendations. And I guess I'll go with aftermarket turn signals. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I take it out for a cruise. |

Might not be the speedometer, check that the sender or inner cable isn't broken. You can spin the end with a drill and a flat blade screwdriver bit to see if it works.
If it is the speedo I probably have a working spare, easy to replace on the 1100f. Compete sets also show up on eBay of someone here doesn't have one. Same with the fuse cover, they are notorious for the tabs braking and then being launched into the wind.
If the engine and brakes are good then you are starting out better than most - welcome to the forum. Pictures of what you have are always nice to help members see what you need to complete the bike. |

Welcome to the site, Vetter.
Congrats on the purchase of your F.
It's unfortunate that you didn't get the faster Red model but the Blue ones are still good bikes. |

Ha. I've ridden both. Back in my Navy days a good friend built up a Red one. It was definitely faster than the Blue one that i had previously ridden.
I'm trying to upload pictures but my pictures are too large. Will work on making them smaller after work.
How much am I looking at for a working speed o and fuse panel cover?
Does anyone ever switch out the front forks to something newer? What fits? The one I have has a strong motor. What about aftermarket rear shocks? What is everyone using? |

Seems that $75-$125 for the fuse cover depending on condition, one of the unicorn 1100f parts that the rest of the world was spared.
Sent you a PM on spare speedo but make sure it is actually bad, could be the inner cable is broken and I somehow managed to have the blade in the sender break off. |

I have a NOS cluster with some slight imperfections in the "plastic cover". Won't be free but would be a nice addition to most bikes. |

If you have a stock swingarm , you will need shocks with the clevis bottom end . |
