I hope I didn't just kill another kitten ... but .... after one of the NE ride participants ended up in the ditch last spring (and by ditch I mean rock strewn riverbed) totaling his bike and taking ambulance rides all night from Vermont to New Hampshire) ..... let that sink in a few minutes...
and the above near-tragedy was caused by a tractor-trailer (milk truck the consensus feels) due to his operation across the double yellow line to go around a rock outcropping in a 30 mph corner.
I believe it would be prudent to ride with a GoPro running all the time.
The Vermont trooper asked if we got the plate number... which of course we didn't since we all were adjusting to the fog line to avoid a frontal impact. Although admissibility in court for these type of files is still being sorted out .... FYI admitting these files as evidence may hurt your case instead of helping it (unsafe passes / speeding ect. even prior to an accident / incident) MAY be used against you by your insurance company and the opposing attorney's in court! Precedents are already out there. In the above accident getting the plate number from the semi would have outweighed anything extraneous prior to the accident.
Enough set-up .... now for my questions about the GoPro's ....
(1) Can the GoPro be set to loop record video (overwriting the previous file ever hour or so?)
(2) Does the GoPro have an easily removable SD (type) card (it looks like older camera's in the plastic tub would be a PITA to screw with?)
(3) Are the models and/or features of the Hero (6 - 5 - 4 - +) real life useful ... features like blue-tooth activation & stop, video quality settings and reliability (moisture and vibration damage) useful in our environment or are the older models fine for what we do? |

I do not sell these, but I do own several. For the price, it can't be beat.
Knock-off GoPro
The one I have is automatically powered on when 12V is present, you just have to hit record. It has options to loop record and takes micro SD cards. Options let you pick all the attachments you want. It records in 4k, 1080, and 720. 1080p on a 32GB card records for like 8 hours with sound. |

EBay is full of dash cams for motorcycles. Included mini cameras are mounted fore and aft. Records continuous loop when the bike is on onto a removable standard sdcard. Less than $100. |

Alibaba in China will drop ship this to you, good luck if you have questions or problems. They are a go-between, like Amazon, I doubt you will have a relationship with a manufacturer if you go this route. |

Alibaba and Aliexpress are basically the same website. I have had some success communicating with vendors. Usually they just refund your money if there's a problem. I buy lots of crap on Aliexpress and your profile builds "reputation" the more you buy. When you get established as a buyer, you become more credible and refunds are issued more quickly or with less hassle. But for $40 compared to a $400 gopro, i think it's worth the risk. |

I thought so. The box mounts under the seat and turns on automatically when the bike is turned on. I suppose the box could be mounted up front and used as a rear view "mirror". |

Been meaning to get something like this for when the wife and I tour on the GL1800. Doubt if I'll shoot while riding, but will do great for movies to take when we stop. Planning on riding US route 70 (NOT I-70) from Knoxville to the end in Globe, Arizona then on to the Grand Canyon. And then figure out how to get back. |

I have a backup camera on the GL1800 (no DVR) to keep an eye on our Unigo trailer when backing (it is totally hiden by the trunk, and hard enough to maneuver anyway). Thought it would be a nice auxiliary rear view to see past the wife, but anything further back than ~ 10 ft is just about impossible to make out on these wide-angle cameras. |
