Ya I don't see the cowl on their site, just the fairing .... maybe it's just not listed. I am sure I found a place once that offered a fiberglass tank Rolling Eyes

I would use a factory seat cowl and tank but I don't want to get >>> Flamer

Petrat

mead Speed used to make R reolica parts and they were pretty good.

They don't anymore. They may have cowls but not fairings left.

if you're bidding for real R parts, you'll be going up against some tough bidding
(that would be me who is always looking for spares).

By the by, I too am looking at buying another R and making a special.

The place to get everything -- wheels, exhaust, hydraulic clutch conversion and upgraded alternators systems with gorgeous anodized cover. There's a Japanese R book that details who makes what.

Bottom line is if you want custom stuff you need to go to Japan. Costly, but best stuff.

I talked to Mead Speed earlier this year and they stopped making the R seat. The Canadian rep is Dave Hughes.

The solo seat "RB" style is available in Australia but I couldn't find a courier to ship it to Canada. It isn't a factory replacement it is more geared to the racing scene.

Worth a try:

and this is why I would rather go the aftermarket route first ..... I wouldn't be adding any value to my bike by using authentic parts, and would rather see the genuine stuff go to those that need it, like yourself.

I'm interested to see what you have in mind for your project Cool

Darren

keep it stock looking as possible. Exact forged mags from Japan 4.5 X 18 and 2.75 x 18, an aluminum swinger, non braced and perhaps painted to look like stock RD version. stock discs with different master cylinder with better ration, stock forks with internals taken out and then Maxton cartridges put in so modern suspension in stock looking forks.

More questionable is a schule exhaust but modified so that takes two stock 1100 mufflers rather than the single right side muffler. Hate the look of the empty left side without muffler.

That's the plan anyways.

Mead speed aftermarket tail i picked up about 4 years ago and real R tank. Shame they don't make the seat anymore, its a beautiful seat and very sturdy. I will be dropping the fairing and going mono shock and new forks for my next project.

The name has risen through PM's and as well the possibility of custom carbon fiber. Will look at options and pricing and then see what comes together ..... thanks for the reply.

That would be a big waste of money on a great header. The Schuele performance is built on the concept of a 4-2-1. If you make 4-2 out of it, why use an expensive Schuel header???
I don't like the one-sided exhaust either. That's why I don't use a Schuele. But turning it into a 4-2 is nonsense, sorry.

Deaer Rob

t would not be a 4 into 2.

It is currently a 4 into 2 into 1.

It would then become a 4 into 2 into 1 into 2, the idea being that 2 large mufflers would be able to allow less back pressure without being loud.

I contacted Mead Speed in 08 and this was the response.
-------------------------------
Sorry to have to tell you that the 1100RC moulds have been destroyed in a fire along with many
others. We only have the B solo seat - which will fit the C & D.

If it is of any use to you please let me know by return as someone else want's it. If you are
interested we can pack it to weigh and give you a delivery cost.

Best Regards,

Vicky

I know someone who has a replica dual seat and fairing for an RC/D and an original RC tank. I can ask him if he wants to sell the stuff, if anyone is interested.

Sorry about the thread hijack Darren but I am with David on the exhaust. It is not so much the naked left side on the bike as the 4 into 1 resonance (howl) banging on my brain these days. Back in the day (a Thursday my son has surmised) before the Yoshi pipe (a 1985 addition) I removed the baffles in the stock pipes and welded in a 2 -3" long piece of car exhaust pipe The opening increased to like a 1" to an 1 1/2". It didn't run any better but it sounded great. I remember either a Kerker or Supertrapp 4 into 2 back then but no longer available. I wonder if they were just slip-ons?
