Looking for inspiration. I'll probably end up with one that needs work and would like to see some progress or before and after shots.

Thanks
Harold

I was actually trying to find nice shots of your bike PL, it's in my mind an example of an excellent excellent resto job.

And this is the last picture I have taken of it, still some work to do. I need to finish it as I may be adding to the stable soon, something ending with the letter "R"! Twisted Evil

OFF TOPIC...If it bothers you, please don't look!!!

But this is a good of how a person (me in this case) can start with nothing and make something out of it... This project has given me the inspiration to fix up our beloved "F" bikes (now on topic) and the confidence to move forward on each project despite the obstacles encountered...

Papa you rule! That trumpet is done really nice. Love the color. Love the pipes. And tell me what type of primary cover that is. Its so cool! I wish I could handle right side shifting but it really does screw me up at the worst possible times. Great bike though.

And Todd, do not sell yourself short, your hot rod is as nice as anyones not to mention may be one of the best handling Fs on the planet. Tip of the cap to Peters red bike too. I've seen that color scheme on stock bikes and it only looks average. With his blacked out wheels, motor, peg mounts and pipe, he's given that bike what may be the perfect combination of style and flash. Extremely well done.
You may be right about 1981CBs' scooter though. It looks like a brand new 2007 model. One I and many others would love to buy from the dealers.

But this is only the tip of the iceberg. We are missing a ton of bikes on here not to mention on going project bikes. Whoever started this thread was looking for inspiration and this place seems to have done that for literately hundreds of guys. The beautiful thing about our Fs is how they lend themselves to whatever it is you want out of a bike. A long distance tourer, we have seats fairing, and racks ready to be found. Single shock hot rods. Guys have worked out the details and are eager to share. Big motored, big carbed rockets are out there too. Perfect factory stockers with no scratches and all accessories, got those too.

I have to say the majority of guys here found there Fs for a pitance and got them to run reliable and then figured out what they like and how to get there. My F bikes have been the best stress releiver, and the most satisfying hobby I've ever had. And when they said "you meet the nicest people on a honda" they had no idea how right they were. The people here are awesome. Best of luck on your own bike.

This was my bike a few months ago, when I´ve found it:

http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=honda003gy3.jpg

Then it turned black:

http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lacksatzneu006ya4.gif

And this is like it looks now:

http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lacksatzneu013gc3.jpg

http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lacksatzneu015lb8.jpg

http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lacksatzneu017ho2.jpg

It was my aim, to make it black-metallic, as much as possible. I like the look of solid metall, so I´ve polished every part, that was able to be polished and shielded it with clear coating.
I think, looks even very nice. Heavy metallic metall.

Best regards from germany,

Ralf

Don`t know why the pics are not viewable at all!!!! Sorry!

I thought about Pontiacstogo on the way into work and had to put him up there. It's very nice. I think I would have given him top 4 "IF HE WAS GOING ON THE NORTHEAST RIDE Razz "

See ya soon boys. Rolling Eyes

I don't know that I'd call these restoration pictures or not,...most likely not. But they do capture what once was as new, some early mods, a recent re-birth and it's current state. The time frame of the pictures spans 23 years.
