Yep - all of the above. Damn thing ran like a clock all Saturday and Sunday, and today it's like she's running on two or three cylinders; spitting out the stacks, surging, popping, missing and generally just being a BAD BAD Supersport.
AAAAAAARGH! |

It must be running rich and you fouled a couple of plugs. Or they got fouled from the choke/enrichment lever? |

Spot on Ben - swapped in a fresh set of NGK's and cured the problem. Guess I need to twiddle the air-thingamobs on the CR's (or carry lots of spare plugs with me). |

I have heard Tony say that the enrichment lever can cause this problem if used to much(I think). Being it only started to act up after two days... I would say your not far off. |

Tony's right about the enrichment lever, but I learnt not to even look sideways at that stupid thing with the CR's on my red bike. I've only had a couple of cold starts on the silver bike since I got her back together, but I've not touched the enrichment lever (there's no need to).
The CR's on the silver bike are new to me, but not new and while they look spotless, I guess it's possible that the prior owner messed with them. The idle air screws are now set 3/4 turn out, so I'll go from there and see what happens. |

Arn't those carbs oposite from CV's and the screws adjust the air? So turning the screw out would be leaner? |

What I meant was what does it do if you go to 1 turn out, instead of 3/4's? Make it leaner or richer? |

Turning them out makes them leaner (I believe). |

Neglected once more. After almost three years of sitting idle something needed to be done!
New plugs, Dyna colis, new leads, oil change, refreshed CR's, valve adjust and she springs back to life
Quick ride tomorrow morning to make sure everything's OK, then I'll start prepping her for evilbay . |

Nah - not this year. |

I suspect Peter is still mad about being "dirt-tracked" by GPS a few rides back. Peter: GPS and ride captains have gotten much more civilized since then, and you really are encouraged to return your great, wry sense of humor to the fold. Hope to see you at a future ride. |

Thanks Peter - it would be good to catch up with everyone and put some faces to some new names.
Maybe the fall ride? A lot will depend on what bikes I have available to me by then - I took the silver 900F out again this weekend and I'm loving it all over again. That doesn't bode well for my plans to list it on eBay .
As far as the "dirt-tracked" routes go, I'll just make damn sure I run filters and not open stacks next time . |

Resurrecting a VERY old post....
I dug this bike out of storage this past weekend - new Big Crank arrived today and with fresh gas it fired right up. First time it's run since 2016
I've got to stop putting this bike away for 3 or 4 years at a time! |

That is a beaut of a bike. Why you would let that sit alone and lonely in the garage is just plain sad. Ride it man! |

Now that is proper storage if it fired right up after such a long nap.
Still looks great, Peter.
Hopefully you got to take it for a ride. |

It's not alone - it has other non-running bikes to keep it company
But yes - it should be ridden and not locked away. Now that it's running I'm going to go over the brakes etc. and then take it for a ride before I decide what to do with it. |

I'm glad I ran the carbs dry before parking it up this last time (CBXTRAS rebuilt them for me in 2016 after I let it sit with gas in it for too long).
I should have removed the battery and stored it properly to save having to buy a new one - I'm building up quite the stash of dead 'Big Cranks'. |

Hey Mark. I still check in most days, but don't post as often as I used to. I still have the bikes in my signature. The red 900F has also been sitting since 2016;
I plan to get this one up and running soon too. It's sacriledge I know, but I'm leaning towards parting it out... |

That is one of my favorite bikes. If you haven't done so already, you should submit it for the 1100f calendar. Definitely don't part it out but if you do there are a few things I would be interested in for sure. |

I'd forgotten how much fun a back roads ride is - particularly at this time of the year. These bikes just have a great riding position and a ton of character. Bought back a lot of great memories!
Got the red bike running too. It's next for a road test.
On a completely unrelated note - it's the first time I've worn my mesh riding jacket in 4 years - it appears to have shrunk |
