I went to the local NAPA dealer last night to buy some Sea Foam for my oil change.
Walked up to the counter and when the proprietor and customer stopped talking I asked where he kept it.
Well they both look at me kinda funny so I explained that Sea Foam is one of the 9 Wonders of the World as seen on CB1100F.net.

everything here in the USA has to be in english and spanish. it wouldnt be so bad, but i live in whitebread montana where you are more likely to hear a norwegian accent than a hispanic one. instructions for everything either comes in a tome of manuscript length, or is no where near consise enough to cover all the details you may need to know to put something together.
used to be, when you moved into a neighborhood, you acted like you had respect for your new neighbors and learned to mow your grass the way eveyone else did. now, you see violence and rioting just because your neighbor bar-b-ques with sauce instead of rub. by the way, that was an analogy. personally i dont care how you mow your grass or bar-b-que, its just that your way of doing things shouldnt be a pain in the ass for everyone else. english may be a stupid language, but i learned it pretty good, why cant everyone else? sorry for the thread jack......
as for seafoam, for older vehicles that have had to suffer with the effects of poor maintainance, bad gas, and neurotic emissions controls, any little bit of help is a good thing, and seafoam can be a good thing. |

Fitter,
I'd take what that salesmen told you with a grain of salt....
We've had Seafoam in Canada for some time now. |

Yeah that stuff is wicked when you stall the motor out like that. Leaves some crazy fumes.
Nice to be able to talk to the guy. I have not seen it in a spray cna yet. That sound nice, and usefull.
I did however use it to get an engine unstuck after taking the head off a Ford Escort.
I know people say to use brake fluid, but I did not have any at the moment. Worked great. |

So, is the stall out with white smoke and fumes thing supposed to be good or bad? I don't get it. |

This stuff really does work wonders. At first I thought all the talk about Seafoam was a bunch of bs. Just another way to market snake oil. Than I used some on my BMW R1100s. This bike has a large capacity, high compresion two cylinder engine and has always detonated when accelerating hard in hot weather. And not just a little bit of detonation. The engine sounded like it would frag at any time when running it at full throtle on a hot day. Running Cheveron 91 octane fuel helped, but did not cure the detonation. I had the same results by adding Techron to the fuel. It would help, but not eliminate the pinging. I finally tried some Seafoam and have not had even the slightest hint of pinging since. I took the bike out today in nearly 100 degree heat and caned the crap out of it. No pinging. Even tried lugging the engine and still no sign of detonation. The real test will come this weekend when I ride the bike at sea level on the way to Laguna Seca for the Moto GP.
Very impressed with this product. |

Back in the day, we used Stove Oil the same way. Pour it down the carb while keeping the car running. Cleared out all sorts of gunk.... put out a horrendous cloud of white smoke. |
