when i re-hooked up my choke cable... it doesn't work anymore.. I was looking at it and somehow it doesn't look like it worked to begin with... it looks like these to peices were connected but they are not? any tricks?

No tricks with a choke cable, either its good or it aint.
If the choke cable is hooked up correctly on both ends, it should work just fine.

probally snapped cable.... I snapped mine a couple weeks ago, pulled it one day and didn't do anything.... pulled a little harder and it came out....
got a replacement for around $30 if i remember correctly....
I've yet to put it in cause I've been lazy, but gonna do it tommarow along with my newly busted clutch cable..... 20 year old cables suck.....

its not really snapped... it just where it connects to the carb it looks like two pieces are suppose to touch but don't...

If your cable is intact, then there are really only two things that can go wrong with the cable on the carb. end;

1). The cable inner can 'pop' out of the slot in the choke lever. There is a tab you can bend a little to make sure that the end of the cable inner can't slip out.

2). The retainer at the top of the carbs that 'grips' the cable outer can loosen, or be bent enough that it doesn't firmly grip the cable outer. You can remove the tab (held on by a single phillips screw) and bend it a little so that it provides more clamping pressure on the cable outer.

With the sidecovers, tank and seat off the bike, it should be pretty easy to determine what's going wrong.
