Hi people. I hope everyone is doing good?
Here is a little something to brighten your day.
I just got done with this engine. Here's the spec's
Custom made Pistons with V&H style domes. 68.5mm = 1017cc's
Megacycle 900 lift cams with 15 degree's more duration then 900 cams. (I didn't pick these) It will have more torque because of less valve overlap which means more compression. It is in the 12.5 to 1 range.
Windage windows.
1100 rods.
1000C block.
1000C transmission.
JES BUILT port job, welded up combustion chambers, re-cut stock valves, spark plugs sank 1.5mm.
Stock 900 crankshaft.
Headless banded clutch basket, Wouts rubbers, KG powersports fibers, two steel plates.
Chatter gear on the end of the primary shaft has been modified to have no teeth. Lets the engine spin easier.
Headless oil pickup screen.
CBXtras primary rubbers.
All new main and rod bearings.
All 3 V&H guides and Borg Warner chains.
V&H shift detent.
Dyna2000 ignition.
CR33's
Bassani pipe.
Degreed in cams to Megacycle specs at 108 x 108
Lets go for the first test ride now. (This was after quite a few heat cycles in the shop. I never went over half throttle)

Nice job Jim! Break them in like they are going to be ridden.... that's what I do!!! If you let YouTube run after your video it goes to SteveG's pretty 900F after he did the motor and installed Wiesco's |

Thanks Tom for the link. And Thank you guys for the compliment. It has been really nice here until the day after the test. Now all rain.
I have been calling dyno shops but most won't touch carbs anymore. Even if I do the jet changes. I'll find one here soon.
I'm hoping for 125 to 130 rwhp out of this one.
Peace, Jim |

Very cool. It's not riding weather here so I put my helmet on, turned up the volume and blew a fan in my face. What a blast! |

I’d be interested in seeing more about using the 1000c block for chain applications....any advantage over a regular doughnut block with the bore holes opened?
Sounds good! |

Steve, I call the cylinder block the block. The cases are the cases. But to answer your question. I have used 1000c cases on a chain driven bike. I saw no issues or difference other than needing solid plugs in the front engine mounts. |

Ahh...got it..thank you for clarifying
What head gasket did you use for the 1000 bore size? Custom copper? |

The pistons are custom made 68.5mm to fit the modified combustion chambers. They are to big to fit stock 900 sleeves. This is why the 1000C block was needed. I have my own brand of copper gaskets for both the head and base gaskets. I also have paper base gaskets in various thicknesses to achieve a zero deck. My copper head gaskets are made small and I file to fit them to each cylinder. By doing this I get the best fit possible. |

I think I could use a set of those. Have a 1000c top end to go on 750 cases |

Let me know if you do want a set? They were taking about 10 weeks to get made but with the planet pretty much shut down. I don't know how long. I'm currently waiting for a set for DennisThemenace. This get the engine as big as I can go without going over AHRMA's size limit. 1017cc
They are $1100.00 a set. |

I meant the base and head gasket..Do you use cometic ? I’m assuming that price is for custom pistons? |

What are you gonna bore the cylinders? I'm making a 985 out of a 1000c motor. You need to fit the head gasket to the bore. The base gasket to the cylinder od. I found an oem 1000c base gasket on ebay that I'm gonna use. Jim will probably tell you to use an 1100 base gasket. I was going to do that (after talking with him) but I found the oem one on ebay. |

Jim, It looks like the combustion chamber on the 1000c head is smaller than the 900/1100f head? The 1000's appear to have flat top pistons and the f bikes have domed pistons to achieve similar low 9. compression rations.... so would domed f bike pistons hit a stock 1000c head? |

Steve go read what I wrote. I said I have my own brand of gaskets for the head and base. Why would I use Cometic? Base gaskets range from $28.00 up to $65.00 depending on how thick of copper. Head gaskets are $65.00. |

Yes the chamber is smaller in a 1000C and shaped slightly better shaped.
Melchiro and myself have fit and used 1000C heads on both stock 1100 pistons (this is how I built Grumps engine) and with the Cruzin Image 1123 pistons. The compression goes up but still runs good on the non-ethanol 92 pump gas.
The engine in the video has a 900 head that I weld up the chambers and clover leaf the chambers. Just like Brent explained, its the biggest hp and torque mod you can do to these engines. It’s not cheap but if you want to put the hurt on some modern bikes. It’s worth it. |
