A couple of snaps of my new (to me) beater. Less than 5K miles. I painted the tank and tail in a CBX theme, new rubber and powder coated the wheels from black to silver, a few other things too.
I'm going to change to taller bars to save my back.

You are going to love it. I have a 2007 Hornet also. It's my favorite bike ever. |

Very nice, and the paint scheme is awesome. Do they make a fender eliminator for the Hornet? That would give it a nice street fighter look. |

Nice bike. I have always had a sweet spot for the 919. It continues to be an underrated and underappreciated machine. |

Had the fender eliminator when I got it. Was a POS. So, I got a used stock fender and removed the reflectors on the side and trimmed the tail about 2". It'll work for me, for now.
I'll be getting another set of 1100F mirrors to you for this bike, soon. Putting together parts now.
Stay tuned. |

I am a member over at Wrist Twisters the 919 forum. One member there said he sold his because the exhaust "stinks".

Hard to imagine that bike being described as a "beater"... Ride safely, sir! |

I saw one of those once with a low-mounted exhaust. I believe it was off a CBR (I think they share an engine) and it was amazing. I look for a cheap one every once in a while. Beautiful bike.
Cheers. |

Fuel injected, water cooled, 6 speed, this one came with Delkevic exhaust and under 5000 miles. A torque monster.
After painting the stripes on the tank and tail and changing the wheel color and adding new rubber, I'm still under $3500 invested.
Many, many parts still available from Honda. IE: just bought a NEW tank, tail and fender, already painted Candy Glory Red for my brother, $811 plus tax. To me, that's just a little more than the cost of materials to paint an F bike.
Show me the down-side. |

The Hornet is a nice Bike.
But not the fastest one,a friend sold his Hornet because he could not follow my CBX on the Highway (germany without Speed limit).
He bought a CBR 1000rr.
Regards,
Daniel |

I bet this will outrun a stock 1100F and there's not doubt that it will easily outhandle it. Combine that with the low cost of buying a nice used one along with the ease of finding replacement parts, and it makes me wonder why I go to the trouble and expense to build resto-mods. But I do enjoy the work and end result... |

Like I said, this is my beater until I get the next CBX done.
Here's the motor with mocking up CRs, throttle shafts (not shown here) just came off the mill: |

That's a very nice 919 J.R.! I like the paint upgrade of the wheels and body work.

That's a beautiful paint scheme, I've admired it since it appeared on the CBX's. Thinking about using it on my 1123 build. Beater?? Yeah, sure - color me green w/envy. - Ed. |

I wish I had your masking skills J.R. I'd paint my 919 in a similar fashion. You did that free hand, right? |

Been rippin' around on my '07 Niner for eight years and never had a minute of trouble or an ounce of regret. Reliable to a fault, pulls like hell and if I had to keep only one of the three bikes in my stable, there'd be no question. |

Here's a copy one town over from me with relatively low miles. Paint looks nice, but like J.R., I would do something with the wheels to sharpen it up. |
