Winter is a coming and one car is coming inside the garage. One bike has been relegated to the shed for space but the F has earned her spot in the garage so I crammed everything towards the back wall and made a space for her in the corner - nose in.
Problem is that to get her in between the wall and a filing cabinet (parts storage) I need to put her on the centre stand and 'walk' ie bounce her sideways and forward. This has resulted in the clutch handle putting holes in the wall
So I needed something better than my method. On line I found these centre stand motorcycle dolly's made in Toronto but costing over $300 CAD. I had one three wheel steel dolly in the garage and went out today and bought a second one from Canadian Tire (heavy duty). Placed the centre stand on them and voila success!
Caution!!! When pushing the bike around on the dollies don't push too hard as it may raise the centre stand off the dollies!
Now when the spouse is at work I can easily wheel her out as required. |

G'day Fitter
How high is the pad that takes the stand foot?
The only problem with this sort of thing is the extra exertion (weight) needed to lift it onto the stand. For a 140Lb old fart it would be a struggle. I can just get it up (keep it clean) with a 1" packer under the stand.
The cars got a lid, let it live outside. Never in my life has a car got in the garage. OK I don't get snow and ride all year but not even the cooks car gets in, even in a hail storm.
Just kidding mate. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Cheers |

Good idea. Maybe you could rig some sort of bracket, or even a rope, to hold the centre stand so it won’t retract. |

The 12" dolly has a 136 kg rating. Those are the ones.

The dolly resting pad is indeed 1 inch above the floor.
Yes, the cars have lids but I prefer to dig out one car at a time.
I live in Ottawa and despite Global Warming we still get some snow every winter.

No problem at all..the new one they offer had an offset for the center stand.good thing is is a wheel breaks it can only drop about 3/16". It is very close to the ground...works great on smooth surfaces |

I saw them but was loath to buy as I read reviews where the wheels were cheap and broke 1st time the thing was used. Oh well, I'll check them out at your place next time I'm by. |

I have replaced 1 wheel....not a big deal...i store my 11 in a nook in the garage even during riding season...it makes getting it in and out soooooo easy. Princess auto sells double wheels cheap..the main structure is very strong and will last a lifetime....i like em.. |

The one under the centre stand is a Park 'n Move I got for the Goldwing. I cobbled up the one under the front wheel out of some extra angle iron and some small casters. The combo works great, easy to move the bike sideways if necessary.

Now that's the ticket Gabe! Those Park n Move units are pricey for what they are. The unit you made for the front wheel is nice. Using both units together would make moving the bike a breeze. I tried Fitter's idea with the Can. Tire dollies, but being seperate pieces, getting them positioned under the centre stand was a pain, and then once up. the front wheel is still on the ground. Anyone with access to some scrap metal and a welder could make these cheap. You probably got your wheels for the front unit from Princess Auto?

Hey Chris, ya, the Park-n-Move is pricey but it has an 1,100-lb plus weight capacity and I needed something that robust for the Wing. I probably just picked up the casters at Home Depot, they are right beside the office. With both ends of the bike on rollers, you can spin the thing around like a top if you want to. |
