1982 Honda CB750F - New Chassis

I decided to go with a set of 1994 Honda CB1000SF Forks based on the design, length, and size - 815mm [32.09”] – [43mm dia.] – [20mm dia. axel]. It gives it that little extra detail to the build.

Slowly getting a few of the details handled. Parts in silver and clear coat. Just have to install decals and clear coat again. Work currently being done by Craig @ Paintworks

Craig does great work. Color matched the blue 1100 perfect .

I recently sent my frame out to have it straightened (back in the day, OEM frames were rarely straight to begin with). Now I have a decent baseline to work with prior to these frame modifications being completed.

What was your reasoning on moving the upper shock mount?
Certainly i have seen aftermarket swingarms with multiple mounting points to change the angle.

Laying the shock down by moving the top mounts forward allows increased wheel travel (for the same length shock) and makes shock compression more progressive so you can run a stiffer shock while retaining a softer initial feel.

I have a set of these CB1000SF forks and a blackbird swingarm. I'm thinking of taking on a project restomod...Could you tell me what was done to the triples and front end to make the Forks work? Wheel choice and spacers/Adaptation?
Similar question of the rear end if I wanted to use the Blackbird rear if not too far off topic on this thread?

I'll do my best to address at least the CB1000SF forks that lead me to go in a different direction based on the wheels I have chosen for this build. I decided to go with the Suzuki GSX-R600/R750 OEM Straight Spoke Wheel Set [2006-07]. These wheels have a similar look to the DYMAG's and the axle size for this front wheel is 25mm dia. which is 5mm larger than the CB1000SF axel [20mm]. That in itself was not too much of an issue if you went with something like a front wheel from a Honda CBR600 F2 [1994] which has a 20mm front axle as well.

The other issue I came across is if I were to use the CB1000SF triple clamps which happen to have a Fork Spacing/Pitch of a 192mm. This amount of spacing would not accommodate the wheels I selected.

If you are planning to use these forks, you will also need to consider the rebuilding them by a professional who can do the re-valving and the correct springs for the bike and riders weight.

As for the Blackbird Swingarm: There are other members here that have the knowledge as to what is involved in the fabrications and/or modifications of this swingarm. I do have some notes if you need some information to go off of.

Extremely belated post here regarding your AHM exhaust system pictured above. Is this a street pipe version or the true full on race pipe? Why do I ask? Well I had a race version back in the day and I found out after many attempts to mount it to my street bike that a dry sump oil system was required to allow it to fit (oil pan delete doncha know). Without the dry sump system the head pipes will not clear the stock oil pan. Just wondering in.

Hey T,

The AHM Exhaust that is posted is designed for the dry sump oil system. It was verified by having it mounting to a motor that had dry sump oil system installed. Hopefully, I'll be able to use this one as a template to create the street version [once I find the talent and the time].

I figured the shock length to be 330 mm + 5 mm adjustable length. [325 mm @ 11.5 deg.]
