Hey everyone, now that the exhaust stuff has died down, I have access to a HAAS VF-2 CNC at school, as well as 2x Tormach 770PCNC's. I'm looking for something to make for our CB-F bikes that can be machined on a 3-Axis machine. I think I have time to do one run of a product so if everyone on here can come to an agreement as to what part they would like, I can do a run for anyone that is interested.
Things off the top of my head:
1) Alt. Cover or the Left crankcase point cover.
2) 11F Key cover (to replace that plastic part that no one can find) https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1983/cb1100f-a-super-sport/handlebar-top-bridge #13
3) triple tree
4) fork brace
5) foot pegs
6) brackets for daytona steering damper
I can design and model everything in CAD and setup tool paths for the machine in mastercam or fusion 360. I'll just need some time to design/draw/and do a quick prototyping run on my personal cnc machine to make sure all the holes lineup and what not. I'll only do a run for how many ppl are actually interested, not going to make extra to have stock of and no idea if I'll have time for this again. I have the whole summer to mess with the machines.
If this is something everyone here is interested in, I'd be willing to do it to further my skills in manufacturing, more specifically in CNC machining.
Let me know if I can help!
Chris
Edit: Also can make parts on a HAAS CNC Lathe. |

Machining a set of dropped triples, so we can use modern sportbike (shorter) forks. That would be fantastic!
Do you think it'd be possible to make just brackets that could be epoxied to the fuse cover? Something to attach on the normal mount point and glue to a larger area on the underside of the cover. |

My vote would be for something not on your list - some nice headlight mounting brackets for adapting a stock 750F/900F headlight bucket onto 1100F triples. I presently use a modified 900F bracket with spacers to take up the slack, but something custom would be sweet. |

Both are doable.
If enough people are interested in the dropped triples, I can work on that.
For the fuse cover, I can actually plastic injection mold a piece that everyone can epoxy underneath. Currently I have ABS and Delrin as plastic materials to feed the plastic injection machine. |

I can definitely do this as well!
Keep the good ideas coming! If we can get like 5-10 ppl to agree on a part than I will start. Majority rules.
Guess I should add that I can do tooling and mold making for the plastic injection molder. |

I have already had a set of triples machined by Ricci Engineering for a set of Yamaha FZ1 forks, so that is not on my list. New points covers are still available, in fact I had one delivered just last week, so no need there. What appears to be very hard to get hold of is an alternator cover (right side engine) in good condition. Also mounts for steering damper hard to get hold of. So my vote is for:
Right side alternator cover
Steering damper mounts
Regards,
Chris |

If you are making alternator covers make them for The R's. I'm sure you will get a few takers if the price is reasonable . |

Only if you can use the 900f/1100f of rotor and stator, otherwise only 1100R people could use them and it would be low demand part. If you can use the part on any bike perhaps demand would be better. |

Pretty simple part, and plastic rather than metal, but they are a lot of 1100's (and several 900's with 1100 forks) that are missing the adjustment caps. |

I did not know that fit, that is great to know. Go ahead and reproduce the wombat cover.
And I have the Ohlins steering damper mount hardware if you want to reproduce it, then you can use the Ohlins SD003 damper in builds. |

I would like to know where that damper mounts. Underneath the triple or on the side? |

Mine mounts right side, probably better to remove the harness clamp that is there. I think the left side would be better since the frame has less stuff going on there.
This is a 90mm stroke Ohlins damper, it appears it could work but leaves little margin if the steering stops are slightly different. The SD003 is a 120mm stroke.

Will that steering damper fit with the F2 fairing?
Hello Don, I have been very busy with work. On the negotiating team for our new contract and also started training to be a training captain. 'Rebuild' is still just 'parts collecting' at the moment! |

The opposite would be nice to. a simple bolt in bracket for 1100f to 750/900f |

Don't know for sure but I doubt it. At the left side steering stop the damper swings out. |

I already have the damper brackets modeled for both left and right side mount and I'll supply the model for a set of left side mounts.

I would be in for a set of the damper mounts. Its seems they are a hard to find parts. Ive seen a few threads on here about them. |

Steering damper brackets. A component just about everyone could use.
I'd be "IN" for a couple sets, initially. |

How about having some of those oil lock pieces #51432-MG5-671 inside CB1100F fork. Those are usually broken or abused. |

A lot of good ideas so far. If it comes down to steering damper brackets I will be in for a couple sets also. Your awesome Chris! |

Looks like steering damper bracket is winning.
for those interested, are the ohlins steering damper the one that everyone wants? If so, I can ask my buddy to see what kind of a discount he gets on those. I'll have to double check but I remember he has an account with ohlins and daytona.
If I end up making the steering damper brackets, the other ideas are still valid so time willing, I will get to those after. I really love these damn bikes so making things for them gives me a lot of joy. |

Does he have a Time Machine ? They stopped making those brackets many years ago . |

It took me almost 8 years to score the damper brackets and damper. I'd like a LH SET, easier to adjust on the fly. |
