Well I finished cleaning up the 1100F I bought last year. It was a very solid bike with original paint, Euro sport kit and nice original pipes but i changed out the non-stock items since I wanted to make the bike look 100% stock.
I replaced:
Coils and plug leads with NOS
Rear shocks with good used OEM
Mirrors with used OEM from this Forum (I have a NOS one on the way form Germany also)
Grips with NOS
Mods:
0.9kg Racetech springs
Vince and Hyde star shifter (great mod!)
Then finally I had been looking for some OEM front brake lines to replace the braided lines on it: Sarah Dalby in the UK very kindly started to work on getting some made up for me, but in the meantime Dr Olds (on this Forum) just mailed some to me at no charge - what a gentleman!
Of course the braided lines give slightly firmer lever feel, but I wanted the 100% original look (OK - with optional sport kit) for this bike, since original bikes are so rare these days.
These are super nice bikes to ride! Hard to believe its 35 years old...
Cheers,
Don

WOW....looks fantastic...nice work. You can get black braided brake lines to maintain the stock look. |

Thanks again all for the kind comments from the CB experts on here.
Basmn - yes thats a good idea to use black braided lines. if I cant live with the little bit extra sponginess I'll do that, but I really wanted the 100% stock look.

Great looking bike Don, hell, I'd even let you park that beauty next to mine!
Those stock pipe look like new. I have a set that I would consider 9/10, and had them on the bike for one season.
Ride that bike with pride! Don't be surprised if you get people scratching their heads wondering if that is a NEW retro bike!!
Their jaws will drop when you tell them it is an original from 1983!!
Cheers!

Rick, fyi, if you made that picture the home page pix, I for one, can't see it on the home page.
It is a beauty and rightly deserves to be there for sure. |

Thanks Chris. The pipes i would rate at 9/10 also. The bike came from WA and apparently had been in storage a long time with some protective goo on it. Prev. owner bought it from the original owner, cleaned that goo off, got the carbs cleaned and serviced, fitted a NOS gas tank, tires and a few other things. He rode it for a couple of years and then sold it to me on eBay. I didn't know at the time but it was on Rare Sports Bikes for Sale and got a lot of attention. Bike has done 10,000 from new. I think its a testament to Honda build quality how well these bikes hold up. i had a 79 CBX last year that was like new. Prev owner had fitted NOS parts (gas tank, seat) over the years, but still, the whole bike was showroom condition. I much prefer the 1100F though over the CBX, and for some reason the 1100F gets more attention. Just something about these bikes.
I think they are becoming very popular, and still a real bargain compered to a similar condition Z1.

@Don
Fyi: you can cover the steel lines with 2 or 3 layers of shrinking tube. 3./.1 , 17 mm than it slides over the fittings at the end. From a 2 feet distance you hardly see a difference. If interested I can send pics from my bike Restauration .
Cheers

I hate the photo of the motorcycle which is the subject of this post.
It makes mine look tired.
Good job.

Just a thought.
Goodridge do teflon coated stainless braided brake lines, in black.
Best of both worlds imho, they're black so almost look like stock rubber brake lines and they're stainless braided lines so you get that solid feel at the brake lever/pedal |

I saw it last time as the Home Page pic, and I see it again as the Home Page pic. I like looking at it! Beautiful bike.
