dB Customs Evolution Build RETURNS!

Not quite the same, but very cool nonetheless! If you do not remember that bike, pic attached below for reference .....

For those who were on the Spring NE ride in 2017, you may recall a very large trailer in the lot with quite a collection of CBX's. Well, this owner has decided that he wants his 900F rebuilt and to resemble my original Evolution, with some obvious improvements. It's pretty exciting to come full circle on this bike and do many things that I just didn't have the budget to do.

This bike will have OZ Racing Gass wheels (Gold), with full OHLINS front and back (conventional forks this time), with a 985 kit, degreed cams, Vince and Hyde goodies, some port work, JayGUI exhaust, and Yoshimura TMR-MJN carbs, plus a slew of other high end pieces.

The bike finally arrived today from NY state, and so will have some "before pics" shortly. This will be a pretty quick build, with a June delivery Shocked

Some updated pics ....

- removed engine
- made top hat reducer bushings so that the F pivot axle will fit the GSXR600 SRAD swinger
- located swinger at 13 degrees with top of bottom engine case temp installed and leveled at 0 degrees
- welded on adjustable shock mounts (JJAM)
- removed upper shock bushings and changed out for correct ones for F (originally designed for ZRX1200R)
- made rear brake stay (still at rough stage, need to mill some contours and drill some holes to finish).

Next are the billet triple clamps, custom mount the steering damper, powder coat frame, swinger, and several brackets. Cylinder is bored for a 985 kit (thanks to toddk for the cylinder and arranging to have them bored). Next will be to disassemble the engine and go through it with all the usual pieces (Captains guide, rear AHM tensioner, and chains), genesounds viton seals and high strength cam bolts, degree cams ..... and so on.

Paint work is 80% done (all paint, no vinyl)

Should have another update in a few weeks ...

lovely

have you see the pic doing the webaround of the Honda Rs1000 rear lower shock mounts
the lower mount pivots ( 3 point triangle cam) - shock on top - swing arm on bottom and a torque arm on the middle that mounts to the frame
as the swing arm comes up the shock lower mount pivots back increasing the shock rake angle - comments read about it are - this changes the shock to swing arm displacement ratio as the shock compress's - like a variable progressive ratio
for bling kudos alone it would be a neat thing to do

that,s the principle ref: Cb1300 rear shock mount - looks a bit more radical though
wonder if this is primarily a solution to achieve the desired shock rake angle whilst keeping clear of the chain run - the RS1000 looks like it starts with the shock pivot more vertically inline with the swing arm mount - the shock then raking backwards as the swing arm travel increases

The linkage creates a rising rate that you could never duplicate with a standard shock arrangement.

For those that might be curious on how much a modified bike might weigh, in street trim, with all the modifications we make. The CB985F Evolution weighed in (with oil, but no fuel), at 225lbs front and 218lbs rear, for a total of 443lbs, and a weight bias of 51% front and 49% rear. That is a savings of 82lbs off of stock trim. This can obviously be pushed way further at a monotonically increasing scale of investment ... but for a street bike, this will be a very fun nimble bike with great braking.

Yoshimura throttle body, tube, with grips and cables come as a kit, very nice and surprisingly cheap. Comes in red too.

Switch gear left side if 2007 GSXR1000 which I re-wired (was fun to dig into but thanks to PSmick, we worked through it), and the right side is an RC51 switch. That one is pretty easy to wire, just need to switch around some wires in the connector, uses same connector too.
