Maybe someday, I could send a bike? That would be cool.
If I ever do? You will know that I'm making money. P.I. is just a pipe dream for me. |

When I got invited I couldn't afford to go - and that was with an offer to ship my racebike there for free! My buddies Joe Weir, Dave Crussell and Brian Filo are going there again and have nothing but great things to say about the whole event.
Seems kind of strange to limit the team sizes this year, if I understand what was put forward correctly. |

Aside from the obvious missing bits, I really dig your bike. What kind of swinger is that? |

I read somewhere (and no longer recall where) that they had set all the teams to 10 racers plus 2 backup riders who'd be scored (or compete) if one of the 'primary' members was unable to compete - something like that... I'm thinking it's because the locals outnumbered the "foreigners" and somehow that was unfair with the way things were scored. Since I don't remember where I read this info I can't offer the article for clarification.
And to clarify, I got a last minute invite for the 2013 event, not this recent one when someone (faster than I) cancelled and a slot became open. |

Congratulations on winning the motorcycling ashes. See you next year!
P.S. This great event could be even greater if the U.S. team were more competitive. It'd be awesome to see some of your past champs come down and mix it up it with the Aussie and UK legends. |

A couple of Hondas I snapped at the island.
Michael Dibb took out all four rounds of the Unlimited Forgotten Era Premier class on this bike. It looked to have a started with a stock frame but heavily modified in an F1 style.
A HRC VF860R, unfortunately only a static display.
A CB1100R in its natural habitat.
This Bol d'Or went hard and strong all day
A local company casting their own TZ750 cases. Yours for a cool $10K
A hive of activity in the winning Team UK pit box. So much trick machinery on display.
Leathers of the great man himself.

NZ team captain Graeme Crosby was impressed by the professionalism and competitiveness of the UK and Aussie teams and said that team Kiwi needs to ramp it up and he intends to do so for next year. Expect a call Brent. |

I've personally been passed by several of the new Team American riders with enough difference in velocity to make me wonder what the heck I'm doing out there... |

It's tempting to give myself some ego strokes and blame my equipment. However, I can easily identify "faster" when I see it - fleeting though that view may be! A racing friend of mine has a favorite saying when he's bench racing and somebody is whining about their equipment. To quote him: "It's not the bike." It's an ego slap, totally justified while bench racing.
And - to get back to the thread topic - there are some fast Team America guys with some new & faster equipment that will be there this go-round. I do know the equipment upgrade will help at Philip Island given how fast that track is. |

Yes mate.
I'll try to get there Thursday.
My mate has a practice day on Thursday, but I might stop in Melbourne for the day and get to the island Thursday night.
What about yourself? |

I wanted to go this year but couldn't make the time right now. Instead my wife, daughter and I will be at the Barry Sheene race at Eastern Creek in March. I hope to meet some Aussie F'ers while I'm there. Whoever is going to PI? Have a great time. It's still on the bucket list.
Peace, Jim |
