Yeah I emailed him a week or so ago and never heard anything back. Im in the market for a touring/commuter bike and I wanted to hear his opinions of the FJR seeing as he had a Gen 1.
No new crashes, we did have a baby and moved but finding a job is next to impossible right now so Im commuting 100 miles a few days a week which has been made tougher since my BMW threw a cam chain rail at 90,000 miles so Im commuting on this, believe it or not....
its a lot of fun - not the best commuter and only gets about 120 miles on a tank..... the sound is borderline orgasmic
I still have two CB400F's, one of which I have recently sold to a guy in Georgia to finance a more suitable commuter bike. Still have one 400F left.
I do miss this bike - perhaps again someday!
hows everyone doin around here? |

Buy the FJR. I have a 2006, first year for 2nd Gen, that has 126,000 miles on it. All I have done is oil and tires. I checked the valves at 50,000 because I felt guilty. All perfect. Again at 100,000 and all perfect still. On the owners forum there are several with over 200,000 miles that have never cracked the motor open. Highly recommended to say the least. |

Yeah Im hearing some pretty amazing things about them. There is an 08 down here with 25k on it that comes with the extended warranty that's good for the rest of the year and he is asking 7500 for it.
Also today a guy just posted an 07 with 4k miles on it for 8. Both of which Im sure could be negotiated down with cash.
I would still like to ride one and see what it's all about. Im sure its the bike that I need but you know how sometimes they just dont fit?
we will see |

after I sold the 1100F, I bought an SV1000 which was meh. A fine bike in a lot of way but didnt excite me all that much. Sold that and was looking for a Triumph Scrambler and I found the Speed Triple and I just couldnt pass it up. It was one of those things that was meant to be - the guy was super cool and we got along really well and we are still buddies.
The Speedy 3 is the most exciting street bike I have ever had, by a huge margin. The sound, the torque, the stopping power.....and nothing looks like it.
People always kind of flinch a little and ruffle their brow when they see it

I last spoke with Papa 2 or 3 years ago about some parts, he had sold everything he had and kinda moved on. Had some health issues.
As far as the FJR goes, I have an 07 I bought new. I'll be loading it up tomorrow for the trip to Daytona. When I say loading it up I don't mean on a trailer either. 500 miles is a slow day for that bike. I love my Honda, but for serious road trip work its hard to beat the FJR. I spend a lot of time beating up the Smokies on it as well. It's been across the Charahola and the Dragon's tail several times. My only real complaint was the factory seat, put a Russell Daylong on it years ago and all is bliss. |

cool man thanks for the comments.
I would have actually bought one by now but my property taxes came in..... so Im going to have to wait at least another month.
There is an 07 around here with 20k still under warranty and gen I 04 with 4k miles and a few other gen II's that are super clean. These seem to be really slow sellers right now and only owned by mature riders that own garages!
all plusses! ill get one..... dont really care which color but I'd prefer Red or Blue.... lookin at April! |

Please tell him Hi from all of us. I only had 1 or 2 interactions with him, but he seemed like a great guy, and of course we all use his valve spreadsheet to maintain our bikes. I think of him every time I start a new copy of the sheet. |

What a nice surprise! Good to hear from you Luke!
The last time I was in California - the two and only two times I ever was in California for that matter - we got together and had some "adventures" and dinner. |

Hi Papuluker !
Remember when you sold your 1100 , always wondered what about this great guy !
I joined in on 2004-2005 and have not been around that often but how nice to hear about you !!!
🤙🏻🤙🏻
FYI, I also resized the avatar and sent it to him in an email, with a request that he replace the huge one.
