I am looking for insurance for my 1100F. My other bikes are with TD, but they will not insure anything over 30 years old. Since it will not be my primary ride, I was hoping for some sort of classic / historic vehicle policy. I was wondering what anyone else in this situation is doing.

Dalton Timmis has some sort of classic insurance. I don't know all of the details, but I'm pretty sure they're the only one with a discount for old bikes.

Let us know how it works out.

Cheers from Toronto.

Good thing out here is the older they get the cheaper the insurance is, I have a 1965 Enfield Interceptor valued at $10000 and costs $80 per year full comp insurance, my 1982 Honda value at $3000 costs $120 full comp. I can use both of these bikes the same number of days per year. I damaged the ignition cover in an accident, only damage to it on the Honda a couple of years ago, they wrote it off, paid me out the $3000, I bought it back for $150, fitted a new cover and went straight back and they re insured it for $3000 again, no problems

I'm with Dalton Timmis, $425/year full coverage no Km restrictions on my 82 900F. Only catch is you need to get the bike appraised. $200 for the appraisal, worth it in the long run.

joed, are you sure about the unlimited mileage with Dalton Timmis?
I thought their vintage program had a 4000 km/year limit.
My CBX is costing me $483 with them.

Joe, check with State Farm.
They are finally offering insurance on vintage bikes. No appraisal required but a VERY low mileage limit.
Not every agent is aware of the program so they might have to do some digging for you.

I have an RD400 and a 750F, both modified, underwritten by Aviva on the vintage insurance plan. About $230 for the RD and $250 for the F. An appraisal is required and 2500 km/year mileage restriction. Zehr Insurance Brokers of New Hamburg is the broker.

Thanks guys. I will make a few phone calls and let you know how I make out. BTW I finally found a Canadian Spec 1100f after a four year search and spent the winter on a refresh. Really looking forward to some good weather. Cheers.

I pay $635 a year for my F with unlimited mileage through Intact. Also note I have only had my license a few years.

Thanks petrat. That is about what I pay for my 03 GSA. I only plan on riding the F a couple thousand K a year, so I am hoping to insure it as an historic / classic vehicle.

I'm in Ottawa and I pay $436 through TD Meloche Monnex for unlimited mileage, Personal Liability and Property Damage, for a 82 CB900F. No collision or theft. I have had a motorcycle license for 34 years though. I don't think the insure motorcycles older than 30 years on new policies, but if you already have a bike with them and it gets to be older than 30 years they won't cancel your policy. Joesopko, I know that doesn't help you because you are looking for a new policy.

Joe, I'm also with Dalton Timmis and have my 11F with the vintage program. Before going to them, I was paying $680 for liability only. Since switching over to DT, I'm paying $485 with full coverage. They do require an appraisal though if you want full coverage. I paid $150 a couple of years ago.
They are also right in Ancaster.
You'll have to come out for a 'Ice House' breakfast meeting some Sunday in Campbellville.

Cheers!
Chris

Thanks for the invite Chris. I will take you up on it. I got a quote from DaltonTimmons for $365 for full coverage and a 2500 km annual limit. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks all. Very Happy
