This is one of the largest topics (117 pages) on the CBX site, so I thought I would bring the theme over here.

What did you do to your bike today?

Nothing worse than spending an entire day wrenching just to get back to zero.

I went out for a ride on the Bandit, mostly windy back roads to Nannup.Stopped for a cuppa then on to Bailingup.Stopped in Bailingup to refuel (damn 15 litre tank) but premium was $1.87 a litre !Fuck that,I'll fill up in Donnybrook it's only 20km up the road.No premium in Donnybrook,oh well I'll fill up in Boyanup.Nah,the servo in Boyanup is closed and not enough fuel to get home or back to Donnybrook.Luckily enough one of the guys I race with lives in Boyanup so I managed to scrounge enough fuel to get back to Bunbury.Apart from the fuel issues,a very pleasant Sunday ride was had.

Cheers,
Chris.

CB900F: read Mike Nixon's book on how to clean the carbs, while I was surf fishing on the beach. (90 degrees here today)

ST1100: rode it 35 miles to get a $5.00 burger and a microbrew after spending all afternoon on the beach.

Had a really good day!!!

No way Dale, when I had acces to a modern machine shop, I still prefer to shorten the other end of the shaft by cutting off the existing hex head and welding on a new hex head.

Saw, welder, 10 minutes, why bother with cutting new threads ? If I didnt have a welder, I would use a die and cut new threads by hand ,, Unless you are a competent machinist, cutting threads on a lathe is waaaaaay beyond most amateur hour mechanics.

Rode the 1100 about 200 miles up into the mountains, with a buddy and his Harley riding friends. Took a couple of pics, but can't find the damned connector to put the pics on the computer. Came home and watched the Pats lose. So a good start to the day, a rather sucky finish...

Figured out a workaround:

One of the stops was the World Famous Los Ojos Bar in Jemez Springs:

And while we didn't set any "land speed records", we moved right along, even with the Geezer Glide in the group:

Saw some beautiful desert scenery:

A clear, crisp early autumn day in Nuevo Mexico...

Been over in Vietnam and Cambodia for 3 weeks, got back yesterday so after a solid 10 hours sleep I cranked my baby over and took her for a short ride to the local servo and filled the tank, then home for a wash and a bit of maintenance.

Amazing what they can do on a Honda over there Cool

First official oil change on the 985 today. Still gotta work the bugs out of the carbs, and figure out why the clutch is slipping (only) in 3rd gear. Getting close with the new (old) girl...
