Wow! A few really feeling the need to piss on my avatar/F huh? Go back and review my original post, no attacks from me on any personal level toward anyone or any specific bike here.
I'm also a member over at a GS Suzuki site that I hardly ever visit anymore. Reason why? Much of the site has lost touch with true GS bike identity and has become polluted with this same sort of "customizing" trend. Just wanted to read a few "comments" from members here about what may be happening to this great site.
What defines a 79'-83' CB-F SuperSport? Basically, the "F" body parts define the kick-ass looking bike that it is, strip them away and you really just have another 70's-80's tube framed UJM. (That's a Universal Japanese Motorcycle for those who don't know the term.) I would say that as soon as that flowing "F" tail section is removed a huge portion of the bikes identity is lost.
There seems to be an abundance of ratbike forums on the web, why here too?
Like the common man, my bike has a few rattle can painted parts too, It's no show bike, it's a rider. On another note, I really dig my Sawzall and Bi-Metal blades! What a great invention and fabrication tool! Out of the probably hundreds of hours I've spent with mine, I've never stood next to a motorcycle with it in my hands and had the urge to use it as THE only necessary customizing tool. Stoked by the thought of "I'm only moments away from bitchin' ass custom internet bike nirvana".

Just for the debate (and not an attack on NCSF's avatar...its just similar)
I agree, it is the bodywork that sets it apart from the other period UJM's
From market watch/ebay in August Aparently sets it apart from later across the frame fours as well!!!
I agree the tail is pretty iconic...and the factory grab handle on the black bike I posted does spoil the line of it for me - though the anachronistic paint job is iconic F, but perhaps only for me  |

Interesting thread......since these are a public forum or at least a club centered around our addiction what difference does it make what each of us does with our projects. Certain original styling cues identify our bikes in our own mind's eye. For me a big part of the bikes identity include the flared tail section and removing it (IMHO) takes away from the image I see. For some it is the twin shock look out back and they would never do a mono shock conversion but I like the way the back end looks "cleaned up." No matter what each of us does if it still had the F'ing cues be it motor, tank & side covers or F'n license plate screws it still is an F in someones mind. My vote is to NOT restrict anyone's project and everyone should post where and when they choose. |

NorCalSuperF I hear you loud and clear. I originally joined here with my C model but rarely mentioned the model or posted a pic. Anarchy sucks, luckily Glenn is the dictator here and keeps the chopper and off topic bike folks in the great beyond. It has nothing to do with personal taste but rather keeping a focus. Otherwise we would be the same has all the rest.
These guys have thier own site and some of the builds are well thought out.
Not my thing obviously.

The Bodywork, it is indeed for me.... both of my DOHC 750 have the "F" body.. Hell, I even tried to graft the CB-F body onto my CBX, just couldn't make it work with the tank... |

+3 (or maybe it's +4) on the bodywork especially the tail piece. As soon as you strip off the tail then you might as well be riding a K or a C. The R is just a limited production race version of the F. And since the R tail has similar lines as the F it's accepted here more so than the C or K. |

Pointdiver's pic is of a Honda 1100LWB, L stands for Long Wheelbase. 500 of these were created to allow Honda to race in the short-lived BGP series (Backwards Grand Prix), where the bikes were raced backwards. The longer wheelbase performed well in these races. Harley Davidson dominated this series, their backward engineering department was unlike any other and survives to design even the modern Harleys of today.

You are all wrong this is actually the bike that won the widow maker hill climb but taken after the race. You can tell that the awesome power made by the F'in 1100 motor ripped the paddles off the rear tire. |
